After using the pot for about a month, chocolate started accumulating on the bottom (I assume due to overheating). As time went on, the area grew to about 1/8 to 1/4 of the bottom, and then it started to burn. Then it started growling - as either the magnetic field moving the spinner was changing or the spinner was losing shape. The situation worsened to the point it couldn’t make chocolate anymore and we contacted you. You replaced the pot with another with the same design flaw (the serial numbers are very close). I offered to return the old pot but was told it wasn’t necessary. I’m still will if you’re still trying to to determine a solution, if you don’t need it I’ll discard it
Good luck - I won’t be buying another until the design is improved. It did make great chocolate at the beginning! Great idea!
The quality is not as expected for the price point. Products are advertised as being high end and they seem cheaply made. The 1st velvetiser I received literally stopped working within days. Their support was great and sent a replacement. However the replacement is starting to have issues after only about a month of use. It is making a loud screeching sound and not frothing as much. I sent a message to support with a video of the issue and have yet to hear back. I would not recommend to purchase the velvetiser. You can get the same results using a milk frother. The hot chocolates are delicious though.
I bought this for the family at Christmas. We have used it some, maybe 15-20 cups. It's now March and the heating element no longer works. It was very nice for two months, but it really should last much longer.
I purchased the $129 Velvetiser Intro Pack - Classic Charcoal (which comes with “everything you need to get started. A classic Velvetiser, a selection of drinking chocolates plus two PodCups to serve in”) AND a box of the milky hot chocolate mix. When I received my order, I only had the milky hot chocolate mix plus the Velvetiser and PodCups so I reached out to customer service. Priscilla responded and promptly sent me the missing hot selection box along with a complimentary box of mint cold drinking chocolate for their mistake. (I had the option to add the mint cold drinking chocolate at checkout when I placed my order but declined due to the fact that I didn’t think that I or anyone in my family would enjoy it).
I washed the unit according to the directions and when the unit finished heating I poured the heated water into the two pod cups to sanitize for first use (**this is critical information regarding my review). I rinsed out the unit then proceeded to make a packet of the milky hot chocolate. I rinsed out both pod cups with hot water then immediately poured into one of the pod cups. The chocolate had melted perfectly, it tasted good and I was happy with the temperate of the hot chocolate. A couple of days later I made another cup and this time the temperature was considerably less heated that my previous cup. So I again reached out to customer service to get a refund (I was expecting a refund amount of $129 minus the 10% discount I received). The return was only approved for $91.80 which is $102 minus 10%. The $27 intro pack and the $25 milky hot chocolate pack were not included. I was not happy with that amount so I reached out to customer service regarding the temperature of the hot chocolate and was told “The Velvetiser is carefully calibrated to heat the drink to around 150-155 degrees. That's not boiling, but the perfect hot chocolate sipping temperature to enjoy immediately and let the delicate chocolate flavours shine - too hot can scorch the milk & mask the chocolate notes. If you like it a little hotter, try pressing the button again when it's finished for a little extra boost. You can also preheat your mugs with boiling water to help keep the drink hotter for longer.” Notice the suggestion to preheat the mugs which is what I had unintentionally done for the first packet I made. Why would I want to have to reprocess the already made hot chocolate or preheat the pod cup. I haven’t tried it but if the unit is calibrated for a set temperate how would get an “extra boost” by pressing the button again? Wouldn’t it remain at the calibrated temperature. Would pressing it twice per cup make the unit wear out faster? Why would I want to use extra resources to preheat the pod cup?
I reached out to customer service asking for a better resolution but they declined any other options. I don’t feel as though it’s fair to receive a refund for the unit only. I have not opened the hot selection and the “complimentary” mint cold drinking chocolate so I don’t see why those can’t be returned.
I have eight packets of the milky hot chocolate mix remaining as you can see from the picture. I understand not getting a refund on an open item.
I have decided to keep the unit for my grandkids to use since I’m only getting a PARTIAL refund. I feel like the temperature of the Velvetiser is good for them. I had only used my new velvetiser for a few days, 7 times total. And the base unit stopped working. It made cold when it was set to hot, then hot stopped altogether. Last cold side run was to clean it, and it never turned off.
Unit itself is very pretty and I love the hot and cold chocolates. Just hope the replacement unit works better than the first one.
I bought this for myself as I like hot chocolate but find commercial ones too sweet. I immediately liked the salted caramel and the vanilla white and have already ordered more. The cold option was also nice.
I am a hot chocolate lover and I don't have many options to grab a delicious, soothing peppermint hot chocolate. Enter the Velvetiser...my life has changed! This is the most amazing, smooth, delicious cup of hot (and cold) chocolate I've ever had! It takes no time to make and it's so easy to clean! My husband has a huge coffee station and has had it for years...I'm so excited to have my own little piece of heaven where I can make a fresh, perfect temperature cup of hot chocolate any time I want to relax and unwind! Have never once gotten the whisk to spin under any circumstances. I have wasted countless hours troubleshooting and multiple packs of chocolate that have had to be thrown away. Most disappointing big Santa gift literally ever.
I purchased a hot chocolate machine from Hotel Chocolat online. After using the machine, I discovered that the internal part melts when the machine is turned on because it is made of plastic. This makes the machine unsafe and unusable.
I contacted the merchant multiple times via email, but they have not responded or offered any solution. I am requesting a chargeback because the product is defective and poses a safety risk

I loved the original velvetiser, but the addition of the cold beverage function has put it over the top. I’ve taken the original to my office to share with my students. Maybe it will attract them to office hours!
I found their store in Windsor, UK and had my Velvetiser at my house before I got back to the States. It is a game changer if you love hot chocolate. I have used mine every day since returning home. Makes a perfect cup of hot chocolate.
Bought this on a sale and found it to be an incredible value as it also came with 4 boxes of chocolate. Great way to preview other flavors. This machine is exquisite and I am truly a fan. I bought a kit for the first time for my daughter in law's birthday. It came so nice in the box, I decided to buy one for myself. I'm so happy I did! It's so easy to make and maintain. The chocolate is delicious, it warms up on a perfect temperature. It's not too sweet and a perfect cup size. The cups are nice too. I bought a third kit for my daughter for Mother's day and She loves it!
Love the Velvetiser and chocolate flakes. The only thing I would change is for the Velvetiser to heat chocolate to truly HOT. I always have to microwave 20-30 seconds. This is my second Velvetiser, and I had to do the same with the first.
We love our Velvetiser. Easy to use and clean. We have tried the following flakes: 70%, 85%, Salty Caramel, Hazelnut Praline. We love them all but really like the Salty Caramel. Also a shout out to Alecia, Customer Service. She has been great to work with. Believe me you will not be disappointed in this product or the flakes. This is no ordinary hot chocolate maker. It’s a firm sturdy beautiful hot chocolate machine with a gorgeous handle. All I have to do is pour in the milk and tear open the pouch to pour it in. I push a button on the side and I get supreme lusciously, hot chocolate! The cups are beautiful and the hot chocolate is so very delicious. I don’t even use my Nespresso machine anymore. I use my hotel chocolat maker everyday. This was worth every penny.
Yes, it’s expensive but so worth it. I see myself using this frequently. It was the most perfect cup I have ever had. Silky, perfectly warmed temperature, delicious flavor. Super easy to clean as well, cold water two drops of dish soap and run it through a cycle. My only complaint? The cord could be a bit longer.
Although I was initially skeptical about the value of having a hot chocolate maker, especially since I have so many kitchen appliances including a Keurig, I am now thrilled that I have this! The drinks are a delightful treat, actually much better than anticipated. Gourmet hot chocolate with so many great flavors and at the perfect temperature—all about 2 minutes is unbeatable! Cleaning the Velvetiser is much simpler than you may expect! After the unit has cooled down and been unplugged, remove it from the power base, then:
Take off the lid and remove the whisk.
Using warm water, a soft sponge or rag, and a little bit of dish soap, wipe down the inside of the machine, the lid, and the whisk.
Finally, wipe down the handle with a soft damp cloth.
Make sure the Velvetiser is dry before putting it away.
How hot does the Velvetiser make hot chocolate?
When set to hot, the All-New Velvetiser heats your drink to 154 - 158 degrees, the perfect temperature to gently melt the chocolate and meld it into milk. It's hot and comforting, but not scalding, so you can enjoy immediately.
If you experienced the Classic model, you'll find the new Velvetiser is marginally hotter.
When set to cold, the milk you add to All-New Velvetiser will stay the same temperature as it was when you add it. Straight from the fridge is best!

Our hot chocolate flakes are carefully crafted to work optimally with the Velvetiser. Using other chocolate may not work properly and risks damaging the Velvetiser - for this reason it would invalidate your warranty.
